Hi, it’s Shaun, and you’ve reached my very important portfolio.

It’s probably more important to me than it is to you, but I’m glad you’re here.

First of all:

I’m a freelance creative director and art director in New York City

I’ve spent years in creative advertising, making campaigns for big brands like Ben & Jerry’s, Walmart and, um… Meow Mix.

I’ve done it all: commercials, out-of-home, social, digital, Super Bowl spots—some of it has even won awards (though rarely on purpose).

A few years ago, I created a big installation for S&P Global, which introduced me to the land of experiential marketing.

These days, I straddle both worlds… taking on experiential and “traditional” brand campaigns with a concept-first mindset and an emphasis on empathy and humor.

When it comes to freelance work, there’s no job too small or too tough.

Sometimes, I’m brought in to manage teams across multiple projects. Other times, I’m hands-on with art direction, design, and copy.

(Note: that is not me behind the camera)

I consider myself very “technical” and work hard to stay up on all the latest ways of working: Adobe tricks, Figma, AI stuff… things of that nature.

A point of pride for me is how often my freelance clients inquire about bringing me on full-time. I haven’t said yes yet, but you never know.

My wife, Amy Gavin, is a brilliant set designer and creative director.

We occasionally collaborate on projects, like OpenAI’s DevDays (I’d show you more than this vague image, but I can’t risk offending our future AI overlords).

We have our own company, Taylor Donovan—if you see that name on an invoice, don’t panic, that’s me.

If you have a new business pitch, something that needs tinkering, or a project that needs to be owned from start to finish, I’m here for it.

Or, if you’re a fellow creative, feel free to reach out and maybe we can get a coffee sometime. Or get on a Zoom. Yeah, probably a Zoom.
